About Black Arts NC
Black Arts NC is a visionary platform and resource hub dedicated to advancing, sustaining, and centering Black‑led arts, culture, and creative ecosystem in North Carolina. We believe that art is liberation, culture is community, and creativity is essential to our collective freedom.
Founded with the recognition that Black artists, cultural workers, and creatives carry generational wisdom, radical imagination, and community care—Black Arts NC steps in as a mother non‑profit: a home base for alignment, infrastructure, capacity building, and intergenerational leadership.
Our mission is to:

Support Black artists and cultural workers across disciplines with resources, networks, funding pathways, and administrative infrastructure.

Build and connect a statewide ecosystem of Black creative practices that honours local stories, regional diversity, and global Blackness.

Foster co‑governance, meaning Black artists and cultural organizers are at the decision‑making tables (not just consulted)—shifting power toward those who produce and sustain culture.

Promote cultural justice, rooted in heritage, in community care, and in envisioning new futures—because art isn’t only aesthetic, it’s political.

Serve as an umbrella that nurtures individual projects (like gatherings, residencies, workshops) while also cultivating collective enterprises, collaborations and structural change.
